We learned from the expert how to cut curly hair yourself to make them look as beautiful and well-groomed as possible and to test the haircut for curly hair and deliver an honest verdict.
Anastasia Androsova is the salon’s founder and one of the first certified curly hair specialists in Russia. It was from her that we found out why curly hair should be cut according to a special technique and how to style curls to make them elastic, shiny, and voluminous.
How To Cut Curly Hair Yourself?
The first and most important thing is that curly hair cannot be straightened before cutting and cutting wet hair.
Otherwise, how do you know what the curls will look like and what will be the shape when the hair dries and dissolve? Cut curls need dry – so you can watch how each curl behaves and where it is better to cut it so that it is beautifully rounded.
At the same time, it is important not to comb the hair during the haircut – again, so that the curls do not lose their shape.
It is also unnecessary to make a fillet for the curly hair owners – the curls, after it, as a rule, are more active, poorly twisted, and lose shape. The ideal solution will be a haircut cascade, which will allow the hair to look more voluminous, and curls – more actively twisted.
How To Care For Curly Hair?
There Are Two Key Points In The Care Of Curly Hair: Cleansing And Hydration.
First of all, you should clean your hair well from the dust and dirt accumulated on them. Use shampoos with natural ingredients and preferably without sulfates, which can make hair dry and naughty.
Do not forget to massage the scalp while washing – massage will improve blood flow, and hair will grow better. Once every couple of months, you can clean your hair with vitamin C – mix powdered vitamin C with shampoo in 1:1. Vitamin C cleanses the hair of contaminants.
If you are actively using styling products, you can clean your hair with vitamin C once a month, but more often, it is not worth it. After proper cleansing, the hair becomes healthier and more voluminous.
The second important step is hydration. Arm yourself with a conditioner with natural ingredients, apply the product on the curls, comb and smoothing your hair with your fingers (or, in extreme cases, a comb, if the hair is very confused). As for the hair mask, it does not have to be used often.
It is enough to apply the mask every few months, or even in six months. The mask can weigh the strands, and your curls will only suffer.
How To Style Curly Hair?
The styling largely depends on how your curls will look. To achieve elastic, voluminous, and photogenic curls, it is important to adhere to several rules during laying. The first is not to comb your hair so as not to unwind the curls and break their shape.
The second is to apply a small amount of styling gel to wet hair, avoiding roots. When applying the gel, comb and share the curls with your fingers, giving them the volume and shape you need. The gel will add curls of smoothness and elasticity and keep styling longer.
Do not worry – the product will not be noticeable on the hair and will not create a “wet” effect. Just after the hair has dried, you will need to gently squeeze the curls in the palms, collecting them in spring from the bottom up.
How To Dry My Hair?
If you clean them correctly and well moisturized, then dry themselves, they will be very long. It is best to dry curly hair with a diffuser.
If the usual hairdryer treacherously rubbed and unpacked curls, the diffuser will allow them to dry so that the beautiful curls are preserved, remained smooth, and did not lose luster.
To achieve root volume, dry your hair with your head down, and use special hair clips that are fixed at the roots.
When the hair is dry, you can gently straighten them at the roots, but do not touch them along the length and generally try not to rub the curls and hold on them with your fingers, so as not to break the curls.
This Is How Your Curls Look Perfect Every Day!
Natural curls are beautiful – but they can also be very beautiful divas. Knowing from experience how difficult it is to handle curls, here are some personal tips – and a few professional tricks from Schwarzkopf’s hair expert Armin Morbach.
Maintaining Natural Curls: How To Do It
“May I borrow your brush?” Unfortunately, I can only answer this question with “No” – because I don’t have a brush. Armin Morrbach also knows that there is a good reason for this. He recommends: “When they are dry, do not brush through natural curls, but the only style with your fingers.
Always use a coarse-zinc comb in the wet state – best after washing, if there is still conditioner in the hair, then they can be untangled without dragging too much on them.”
He is right! Curls should only be combed through in a wet state. In the dry state, they are only built up and “stubbbelig” – nobody wants that, don’t they?
Since natural curls are usually very needy and rather brittle, products with high moisture content are suitable.
Maintaining Curls Properly – How To Cut Curly Hair Yourself
Even if many women with natural curls want nothing more than smooth, silky hair – be proud of your curls! With the right care for curls, even the most frizzy natural curls are tamed. The fact is: curly hair is often drier and more brittle than smooth hair. The reason for this is the sebum supply.
Since curls are not so close to the scalp, the hair is less supplied with sebum. Therefore, care with curly hair is enormously important. Massage your hair at least once a week with a repair cure – especially in winter, when the heating provides very dry air.
Unraveling oils provide more shine and healthy hair – the enveloped dandruff layer of the hair is less attacked due to the better combability.
